About De Grenedeer

A welcoming house on the Rijksweg since 1957

When Jeanne, Marie and Zjang Mingels took over the building on the Rijksweg in 1957, the plan was a village cafe with simple cooking. It quickly became more than that. People came for the food, stayed for the atmosphere, and returned later for family dinners and weddings.

The business passed from father to daughter, who devoted herself to the same style of cooking the first guests had known. Classic, honest, with respect for what a tournedos should be and how a fish soup really tastes when it has been simmered properly.

Today we are one of the oldest family restaurants in this corner of Limburg. We still cook in the style that has shaped us from the start, with a menu that shifts gently and a wine list we refresh regularly. Our guests know they can be themselves here, and that the kitchen has nothing left to prove.

What defines us

Three words that sum up our hospitality.

Honest

No tall stories on the plate. A good product, classically prepared.

Personal

Familiar faces in the dining room. Come twice and we will likely remember you.

Rooted

Almost seven decades in Gronsveld. We know the village and what our guests miss.

Three generations

A kitchen run by family hands.

What started in 1957 as a village cafe has grown into a constant in this corner of Limburg. Our dishes carry the signature of what we inherited from earlier generations, and the kitchen keeps searching for the balance between what stays and what deserves to move with the times.
